I recently downloaded the new Adobe Photoshop elements 9 and it seems pretty user friendly. I made my daughters birthday invitations All I did was get a picture and write on it. All you need to do is to go to their website find the product you want to try and set up a user account which is totally free. Then it keeps track of it on your computer and at the end or any time during your trial you have the option to purchase it.
